Homemade Bath Bombs
They smell so good, I put them in the linen cupboard while they wait for their watery demise.
Pamper packs full of lotions, potions, scents, soap and bath products such as bathbombs make lovely gifts. Botique high end gift boxes can get a little pricey. Why not make your own?
I had a play around with some different bath bomb recipes to see what works and what doesn't. Some recipes use epsome salts and whatnot, I find these kinds of things difficult to find/reliably source. If I cant find it at the supermarket or The Warehouse then I'm not interested in using it, too much hassle. A few recipes used sugar in their bath bombs, but after reading through comments people suggested sugar isn't a good substance to use, increasing the likelihood of things such as yeast infections. This recipe is sugar free.
You Will Need:
- 1 cup Citric Acid
- 2 cups Cornflour
- Spray Bottle (one for each colour you wish to use)
- Food Colouring
- 5-6 drops of Essential Oil
- Molds (Silocone baking mold work well)
Step One
Fill spray bottles with water and colour(s) of choice.
Step Two
Give the mixture a light spritz. Mix after spritzing and repeat until the mixture can be shaped under your fingers.
*TIP* Don't let the mixture froth/fizz. It mustn't get too wet.
Step Three
Firmly pack mixture into molds. You can use anything as a mold. I used a silicone mini muffin tray.
Extra Ifo:
Mix in some confetti or dried petals to ad some drama and texture. Add these in after the essential oil has been added. Don't add in anything moist, the moisture will cause the bath bombs to break apart.
