The Capelet
Making a capelet to go with the monarch dress.
Three pieces cut from the heaviest cotton I could find.
I made sure the front pieces had a enough of an overlap to add velcro.
I just zip stitched the hem. The entire this will be covered in fringe. The hem won't be seen my main objective was to stop the bottom from fraying and thats it.
Added the velcro after hemming.
Chalked sewing guides for the fringe. About 4cm apart.
I made the fringe myself from old black t-shits. I cut strips from bottom up.
*A note from Figwit - Always have a cat supervise when doing this.

I cut the strips then removed the overlocked edges and any print.
Pull the strips tight and they turn into long strings.
Which the cat was very taken with. If my cat was a dragon I know what he would hoard, cut up t-shirt strings.
I cut equal(ish) lengths of t-shit string. So, so, so many.
Placed the on cape along the chalk guide. I sort of started with 2 or 3 then added more under the foot as I was sweing.
Almost there. I'm about 3 t-shirts in. It took a couple of hours of sewing to get this far, marked by how many netflix episodes were binge watched.
