Halloween houses
Both are made out of the same base pattern. I have written out the construction process for each of the dwellings and I've also added in some extra polymer sculpts. All the extra stuff that is added to each house like pumpkins and skeletons etc.
Basic house outline can be found below.
You will Need
- Hot Glue
- Block of wood/or you could use an upturned plastic container
- Tissue + craft paper
- PVA glue/mod podge
- hole punch
- Sculpting tools - I used a craft knife, wooden skewer, and mini cookie cutters
- Acrylic paint.
My notes on polymer clay
Other colours it is handy to have are: flesh (its a great base for mixing up any skin tone), Translucent (this is really soft and smooth, if you have a bit of clay that is going a bit crumbly mix it with some translucent clay. its really great because it wont drastically change the colour of the clay its mixed with). Of course, the colours effects are fun too, with glow in the dark and glittery metallics.*
*The metallic clays are often very moisture deprived and require lots of kneading, translucent clay can help to smooth them out.
Alright lets get on with the project.
Woodland House
I use a cardboard stencil of the roof and walls as a guide when cutting out the clay. Just use a craft knife to cut through the clay.
It is very important to note that it does not matter if the walls are wonky. Witches live in wonky houses.
Using a skewer, draw out lines/planks of wood across the walls of the house.
And tangle some ivy around the place.
Cut out some circles/ovals and cut in half. These will be roof tiles.
Bake in the oven. Follow manufacturers instructions.
Cover a block of wood in PVA/mod podge then cover in tissue paper (I've gone with green)
Cover the top of the block of wood in glue, sprinkle with confetti, and cover with more glue. Leave to dry.
Once dry Hot glue the house and accompanying decorations to the base.
Pumpkin
Cauldron
Ghost
Candy House
instead of rolling out the clay squish it down then smooth out with your fingers, work in one direction until smooth.
I've added a gooey chimney to this house.
Bake as per manufacturers instructions.
I especially love the skeleton hanging out of the window.
