Little Squirrel Paperclip
I love squirrels! On a trip to the UK I was on constant watch for squirrrels, for five weeks I didn't see a single squirrel (not even at the zoo) Until one day I went into a pet shop (pet shops are amazing places when you live in a country that doesn't have hamsters, gerbils, or snakes) This pet shop had three ground squirrels!!! I couldn't buy any, obviously, but the shop keeper did let me hold one! :) Unfortunately NZ doesn't have any squirrels, so I'll have to make do with my sculpted friend here.
. . . And the answer to this posts tittle - What building has the most stories? Is, of course, a library.
This Hoard Needs . . .
- Acrylic paint and bushes
- Varnish/resin**
- Sculpting tools - my two favourite sculpting tools to use are: a skewer and a sewing pin.
- Paperclips
*Obviously any polymer clay can be sculpted but I prefer to use Super Sculpey (beige) It's lovely and soft and creamy, and I find it isn't as brittle as the smaller squares you can buy. It's not coloured but I prefer to paint polymer clay rather than use/blend different colours.
** A clear coating of varnish will always improve the look of your sculpt. I use a two part resin varnish. Some varnish won't work on polymer clay. The oil in the clay causes the varnish to split and dry in patches. This is another reason I paint my clay.
Chatter Creates . . .
Add a little twitchy nose. Use a pin to create a little mouth.
Bake the clay as per the instructions.
I use a dry sponge to blot out any brush strokes and add a fuzzy fur texture.
At this point I leave the paint to dry fully, then I brush the piece with varnish to protect the paint. I use craft smart two part resin liquid gloss. It dries hard and clear.
