The first post on the sewing blog isn't actually about sewing. Its a costume I made for a costume party. Theme; models, magic people and the letter M. The party was being held in a public place, not a private function, and I wanted a costume that fit the brief but wasn't too over the top. In the end I decided to go as a Marie Claire Magazine model (origionaly thought Vogue, but Marie Claire went with the letter M theme) It was a little more than putting on a dress and saying I was dressed as a "model" but wasn't a costume I had to commit to for the entire evening. It's also crafty, and doubles as a fun photo prop for paty goers, which is a bonus.
A real quick and simple costume, its simply made 0ut of card and hot glue.
I cut two sheets of A5 card into identical frames. They had about a 9cm border.
I think, aesthetically, I would have prefered a thinner frame but my main goal here was not to have a saggy frame, thats as bad as a soggy bottom on a pie.

Calligraphy is not my strong suit. There was no way I would be able to replicate the magazines font type, so I traced the letters from my computer screen. I worked out how much space I had for the lettering first and marked this on the paper.
I cut out the letters from left over card. I used a craft knife for all straight edges and scissors for most of the curves.
A quick paint was next.
Hot glue time!!! Master of all crafts. Glued the two frames together and stuck on the lettering.
Last thing to do - Strike a pose. Admittedly, this costume clashed with my personality somewhat. This costume really deserves vivacious, outgoing, strike-a-pose-at-every-opportunity person. So, the opposite of it's maker (I'm trying to hide in my hat), but the idea was there.
